Sometimes i just don't understand.

There this one ad in the NST promoting how rice bring all of us together regardless of race; how all the Malays, Indians, Chinese, Sarawakians, Sabahians have rice as their staple food, to make kolams, and even as the purpose of a celebration. And this supposedly had brought all of us together as one Malaysia because at the end of day, we all share the same thing, which is rice.

It is creative and very true. If only i have thought about that before i would've use it for my app essay. Ceh. And i found that it is not only rice that we share. We already have more than a decade of histories between the races and as years passes by we are becoming more and more mixed and integrated with each other. I mean, do you happen to notice it is getting more difficult to find a pure Malay, or Chinese or any of the races? Even the foods are fused together; like how there's a lot of Chinese Muslim's food, the Portuguese ikan bakar and how Indian Curry is dominating my household's dinner menu,  In a sense, i feel that this togetherness that made us more special and interesting instead of having just one boring self.

And this is exactly why i think the One Malaysia concept should really be instilled inside everybody. We are already one anyway, so it saddens me a bit how we need to be campaigned about One Malaysia with all the hooplas without us realizing it ourselves. But i am really curious whether if people had thought deeper than that, of how people regardless of races should be treated equally, and just stop being racist. It is basic human right to not be looked down upon, right? And certainly there is the question of what is equal and all but my main point now is, walk the talk la. Don't be racist. Nak geli2 dengan India sebab hitam Melayu pun banyak je hitam, at the end of the day the Indians roti canai and curry is still the best. It's extremely embarrassing when people kecoh2 about being united and merdeka and semangat one Malaysia and all but this case is happening all the while! Malu! Maybe you can say that the evidence is biased and exaggerated, because it is written by a Chinese, supported by Chinese, and the victims is also Chinese. But whatever happen to Malay courtesy of being friendly, humble, and helpful? Kalau tiada angin masakan pokok bergoyang kan.

So back to the ad. Today's newspaper is filled with Salam One Malaysia more than usual. And right after the ad, there's the report on how enraged the government is to the non-muslim opposition leader who entered a mosque, without having her aurat covered. Okay so maybe she should've covered her aurat out of respect of the holy  place and maybe she was at fault, but why do they want to make this as a big issue of religion sensitivity to the extend of banning non-muslims from entering the mosque? Are the Hindus going to ban us from going to Batu Caves too just because of merely one person who commit a mistake? I know a lot of Muslims who had entered a mosque without tudung before and it wasn't as much of big of a deal except for a bit of telling off.

And just because of that case, ramai lah yg mengutuk Cina. Padahal baru je kasi salam satu Malaysia.

Whatever it is, Happy Independence Day everyone! Malaysia is still the best country to live in, except maybe the flawed system, but nothing's going to change unless we work for it!
